They simply do not have the support to withstand any sort of real impact. If you want real protection you are better off building a homemade bumper yourself.

However, that also takes away from the 'stock' look...Of course, as long as you dont hit anything, you should be fine.

I just take mine off and expect to get pulled over. Been pulled over twice now for it.
I haven't gotten a written warning yet, so no need to reinstall it.

its crazy, the county where i stay they never busted me for my blackouts but my buddy's grandma lookin buick gets pulled over every other day for no front plate. theyd definitly pop you around here for that

 

Just switched over to CO plates and this mod shows up, thanks! The DMV says its legal. Didn't even need a piece of angle iron, just drilled and bolted right into the crossmember.
