I was going to make a still to make 10 or so gallons of whiskey a year and looked into it. After finding out all the hoops I had to jump through I decided to keep buying my whiskey at the store. I don't want Big Brother snooping around my place.

As stated Big Brother will collect a road tax from you as will your state/commonwealth. You will not escape the tax.

Now comes the energy to produce the ethanol go look up the energy consumption to produce a gallon of ethanol and the cost of the ingredients.

You will be required to add at least 15% gasoline to the ethanol to make it legal in the USA. There are foreign countries that allow 100% ethanol fuel.

Or you can just make shine the old fashiond way. Illegaly. No license fees, no taxes, no regestrations, no hoops. Thats how weve done it in Wv for hundreds of years. And we aint never gonna stop.

My Dad and his friend got caught and made it on the local news. This was several years ago. His buddy had a bunch of rent houses and would give it to some of the rentors. He had to evict someone who then got retribution by turning him in for the moonshine.

Well ethanol fuel is distilled to 95% (moonshine) then made anhydrous which brings the concentration up to 99.5% or higher then denatured with gasoline (usually) so you cant drink it. Home distillation, wether for fuel or drinking, is illegal without a permit. If you want to fuel yourself the permit is free (for off road use anyway) but they expect you to have a certian ammount of land and if you are making your own still you are less likely to get approval (home made still = less failsafes = more shining sheds getting blown up if they arent operated carefully).
