Sounds like you mighta done gone blowed it up.
Could be a spun rod bearing, and it's blocking the oil passage before the sensor, not giving you any oil pressure reading.
Is the noise a ping or a knock?
I spun a bearing in a Toyota Celica, and I lost oil pressure, my power was cutting out on the road, all my dash lights came on and then it started making a horrible knocking noise before it died in the middle of the highway.

I dont know how you all feel about getting a new car. but thats the only way that i see. I was thinkin of this http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ctd/1053291276.html. It's a 03 civic ep3 hatch. easily customizable, thats the only reason. plus I get free tint whenever I need it. :) I love my truck and dont want to get rid of it, but if its dead, dad is buying me a car, not a new motor or tranny. plus i only got 12 mpg in the mazda. im just wondering if the box i am building will fit in the hatch, anyone know the length and width of the hatch in one of these things?

12mpg with a 3.0?!!! WTF!!!!!!??????
I despise Hondas for many reasons, but that 03 is actually really sweet...and I do love me a very tastfully modded Honda....I know...I hate on Hondas all the time, but here and there I always get the urge to want to build one.
However, trucks are practical and fun. After owning several pickups and SUVs, I will never go back to a car as my only mod of transportation. I'll have a car as a second vehicle, but trucks FTW.
Plus...maybe $2000-3000 or less for an engine rebuild or an engine swap (with a stock 3.0) will cost you significantly less than buying another vehicle.
If the truck's good and you like it, why not fix it instead of letting a perfectly good and repairable vehicle go to waste?
