Need value of a Ranger for sale please

Hello Ranger experts,

I've got the chance to purchase a 1999 Ranger that has been recently put into a ditch. 4x4 extra cab auto black 3.0 V6. The fire department cut the positive side of the battery cable but I see no reason for the engine to be damaged. The bags are blown and I'm going to assume there is frame damage. The doghouse is toast. It has a very nice set of Torque Thrust looking wheels with good BFG rubber. The truck had been recently purchased for 5k just before the accident. The bed is a step side looking affair in good condition. I don't see any rust to speak of. I would either resell it whole or part it out. Is there a demand for what is probably good and what are the parts left worth?

Let the wreckers have it.
Unless you have a use for some of the parts yourself then it has 0 value until someone buys a part, and you may be waiting a long while for those buyers unless you are giving stuff away.
What something is worth is always 0 until someone makes you an offer, you can ASK $100 for something but that don't make it WORTH $100, it's value is established when someone buys it, and it's only for that person that day.

Sudden stop can damage engine and trans, lots of heavy spinning parts in there that don't all come to a stop at the same time, so heads up on that.
And front end hit on wheels(in the ditch) can push drive line back into transfer case and it can then torque the end of the tranny.

Tires are worth something, most cars and trucks have tires, so there is a market, lol, but used tires aren't worth all the much.

So I would just leave it with the guys that do it for a living, the wrecking yards, they get the calls for used parts.

You may think there is money to be made, but since you are asking for a value, I have to assume it's your first venture into used auto parts, the problem is not in the buying that is simple the problem is in the selling....................and breaking even at least, lol.

Either I'm supposed to read between the lines and realize that Ford Ranger parts have no value what-so-ever, or that was the most worthless reply to a question I've ever read.

This is not my first used parts rodeo, but it was going to be my first venture into an older Ford. I thought I'd come to the experts for the value of things but either my inquiry has fallen on deaf ears, or there are not experts that can put a value on a 3.0 either in running condition or as a complete core. The radiator is not even close to being pushed into the fan, so I think I could have gotten the thing running rather easily.

Aren't you guys the ones that chase and repair Rangers??? I'm the sort of seller that prices stuff to move and everybody's happy. How am I supposed to accomplish that if I come on the number one site and get the most vague and somewhat degrading reply I could possibly expect?

Sudden stoppage? This ain't no prop hitting a runway on a gear up landing Ron!

Engines and transmissions have spinning parts?

Cars and trucks have tires?

REALLY

I think you guys have spoken and I'd rather let the wrecking yards handle this one. And it isn't because I think the parts have no value.

Way to let one member completely sway your state of mind, you haven't had this posted a day.

It would help if you had pictures of the truck.

If you have the room to let it sit I don't see a reason why you couldn't part it out.

If you took offense then I am sorry.

But I have seen posts like yours at all the car/truck forums over the years.
1 post, asking for the value of something that can easily be assessed by looking at local papers or craigslist type sites, or even calling a local wrecker and ask "how much for a......?" transmission, engine, bed, interior, ect.....

This is a national, even international, forum, what kind of pricing would you get?
Certainly nothing that would be helpful for your location..........

And frankly pretty much all of the 1 post people were fishing for buyers, not prices.

So my post was not completely for you, it was for members that may not have seen posts like these, a heads up if you will.

Again if you took offense, sorry, that was not the intention, but I stand by all I said in the first post.

Well, I can see why the D part is in caps Ron. Reading between the lines again, your an old timer and I'm just some sort of newbie that doesn't deserve a straight answer. Yes, I did check the local Craigslist, but quite frankly, I wasn't able to determine anything. Could I call the wrecking yard. Perhaps, but I thought this would be a good source of information. Thanks again for all your help, and trust me, I will stand by my post to an even greater degree.
