New to me: 2006 Ford Ranger 2.3 (some newbie questions)
Picking up a basic single cab short bed ranger with the Duratec 2.3L 4 cylinder and auto transmission. I have been looking for this setup for a while now and finally found one in OK shape. The truck has almost 200K miles on it but it drives well and everything seems to be put together fine. I have some questions:
I know the older 4cylinder was pretty reliable, is the newer 2.3 Mazda built pretty reliable as well?
Also i think it has a timing chain. Are there known issues with the chain guides on these? Any real issues I need to take care of with this motor?
Also, I like the older ranger 15 inch steel wheels with chrome hub caps. I assume those would fit on the 2006 as well?
Finally, since the 2006 didn't come with chrome bumpers, will an older ranger (like 1997-1999) bumpers fit right in the 2006?
Thanks in advance!
