Buy used, save some cash for mods!

If it came down to Taco or Ranger and price wasn't really a option I would have a Tacoma sitting in my driveway.

If you have a Ranger I wouldn't get another one. They haven't changed at all. You will just be stuck with the same thing again. If you don't need a full size go for a Taco like I did or a Frontier. The Colorado is crap IMO.

I got my 2010 TRD Offroad double cab 4wd Tacoma for 30K. It has everything you can get in it. I'm sure you could probably talk them down but they didn't drop the price on mine because I bought it in 09 as a 2010. Also similarly equipped new full size trucks are not the same price. I was looking at a new Z71 Silverado 4wd 5.3 extended cab and the MSRP was 36,900 vs the sticker for my truck was 32,500.

A taco for 30k...again....WAY OVERPRICED.

Our 08 F150 Super Crew XLT was $32,000.
My buddy got his 08 F150 Screw 4x4 XLT for $24,000 because they wanted it off the lot when the 09's came in.

Ok that is XLT. What about a FX4? A FX4 is closer to my TRD than a XLT. Ford.com shows 36 MSRP for a FX4 Supercab and 37 MSRP for a Supercrew. That MSRP is no options other than FX4. I got everything for 30. That is everything. JBL stereo, 4wd, tow package and TRD package. Price up a 150 with the same options and it will be over 40. Why get a V8 that won't let go of the spark plugs if I don't need it?

30k is way to much for a Taco. Toyota's quality has been slipping alot and for the tacoma is to expensive.

I would get a Ranger because I like them.

Its funny though because you guys would pay 26 for a FX4 Ranger. 26 for the same truck you have now. 26 is too much for a Ranger.

I agree 30k is a little high. My dad bought a new ram 1500 bighorn edition loaded for 31.

You cant compare MSRP to what you actually pay though, thats ridiculous. You can easily get 15-20% off any new Ford truck right now, the incentives on them are huge.

Oh I know. Just saying though. I'm sure a similar 150 will cost more though. If you buy at the right time you can get quite a bit off of Toyota vehicles. I could have but I was kind of desperate.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I could have probably saved up enough by now and gotten a left over 09 but I didn't want to wait. It depends a lot on how picky you are and if you want to wait for the perfect deal or not.

im not here dissing ford at all. i owned one. i do think ford makes a nice looking truck. but as this quote states, "toyota has a good name". every one knows the vehicle "TOYOTA" to be which is what these trucks are. and i, as well as many other people would say, toyota has some nice looking trucks as well. i dont know about you guys, but the hard earned money i make, i would like to invest it in something that "has a good name," and will not let me down, and not have more miles going up and down the lift than it does on the road. thats just me though. i had a lot of problems with my ranger i owned. i know all my buddies with american vehicles who say, "ya know i shoulda boughta yota, cuz of all the money im wasting into my (chevy, ford, dodge.) my buddy has a 03 tacoma with 246k miles. not one problem other than his leaf spring breaking(toyota also stepping up and replacing it free.) and a o2 sensor going. my other friend has a 05(new body style with the 4.0) with 154k on it, and no problems to date.

again, im not here to step on anyone toes, or trying to start anything. i am just simply stating what i think. i personally do not think toyotas are overpriced, the term "you get what you pay for" really comes into play with buying a toyota. everyone sayin they are expensive, well fine, lets say they are,but look what you get when you pay the 30k$ for a tacoma, a truck that is reliable an will not cost you money in the long run, and a very capable truck.

just my .02cents.

thanks
---mike

Every vehicle has their problems. Toyota just has less and they fix their problems. As a matter of fact I have a small issue with my truck. The rear leafs are too soft and I hit the bump stops when I have the quad in the bed. Am I worried? Nah. Toyota will fix it. Everyone that is stuck on American vehicles blows any little problem that the Imports have way out of proportion. Wake up and smell 2010 people. We wouldn't have a lot if we didn't have overseas products.

The only reason I would ever buy a toyota is because I have access to TIS.

Seriously.

Only reason.

Well, a quad cab midsized truck would be cool too.

And actually, it would be really awesome to have all the information to the vehicle I owned...

I need to get into a Ford program, not a toytoder one.

Please don't compare a Taco to a F-150. It's not fair... for the Taco... BTW a Brand new FX4 F-150 ext. cab is around $33k-$34k with rebates. And I'm sorry but its 15x the truck anything Toyota can make. TRD package is nothing more than a hood scoop and stickers. Im sorry but its true. I have owned TWO 05+ Tacos. One x-runner and one TRD sport 4x4. Both horrible trucks. I lemon lawed the x-runner and the TRD Sport 4x4 was no better. Clutch problems, sensors, interior pieces braking. You Name it.

Funny you mention Spark Plugs... I replaced mine last night... All I did was put a little pb blaster around the plugs, let it sit for an hour and .............. wammmmo they came right out.

As far as small trucks, you can get a 2009-2010 Ranger FX4 Loaded for around $22k with rebates. It will do everything the Taco will except haul a$$. The Taco is fast, but offroad it is not so hot. I would buy a new Ranger before a Tacoma... But then again I love Ford.

Can you honestly support a company that has to have there government bail them out... Ford didn't... Toyota did.

Toyota Seeks Bailout From Japan

BTW, I have a "BASE FX4 F-150" and It has more standard options on it than your Taco. just FYI. Name it, I got it. So does every F-150 FX4.

Well the spark plug problem was fixed with the 07 models. It really isn't as huge of a problem as its made out to be, if people would read the TSB the rate of broken plugs would be so much less.

Pot calling the kettle black here... Dude. Toyota has the most recalls of any Automaker... Do you read?
