New Vehicle Decisions

Well I'm really going back and forth and back and forth on what to make my next vehicle. Here are a few of the different ideas I've got going through my head:

Ranger FX4 Level II
Pros:
-Love driving a truck, just do.
-Functionality of a bed/hauling space
-Closed cab (for winter/weather)
-Level II is quite capable off-road
-Already have things for it (lift possibly, WAAG, tuner, etc.)
Cons:
-IFS (difficult to lift)
-Difficult to find (far away)
-More expensive (in the 15k range)

Jeep Wrangler
Pros:
-Convertible
-Bad-*** off-road
-Lots of accessories
-REMOVABLE DOORS!
-Easier to find
-More affordable (Probably in the 12k Range)
-Can find usually with lifts and tires already
Cons:
-Not as well suited for weather
-Easily broken into
-No bed storage (unless you remove the back seat, even then very limited)
-Jeep reliability is questionable?
-Ride quality with solid axles?

Muscle Car (Mustang GT or Cobra, Camaro SS, Trans Am, C4 Corvette, etc)
Pros:
-Fast, fun, V8 growl
-Chicks dig fast cars?
-Better gas mileage? (Marginally)
-Less likely to damage (off-roading etc)
Cons:
-No functionality of bed/hauling
-Insurance
-Tickets/tendency to speed

Econobox (Honda Accord or the like)
Pros:
-Cheap
-Great gas mileage
-Can still be somewhat peppy (manual transmission of course)
-Reliable
Cons:
-Not exactly thrilling
-No real sense in modding
-Very little 'sex appeal' like other options

As y'all can see, I've got a kinda difficult decision to make. One side of me says that modding vehicles is very expensive and I'm a broke college student as it is. I just love driving though, and I love off-roading too. I love driving a 'cool' car, whether it was my ranger or my old del sol or my sister's 3000GT VR-4. I feel like the Ranger is kind of the compromise between the off-road capability of the jeep and the streetability of a muscle car or econobox. It would be nice to get good gas mileage, especially on the highway, because that's pretty much all I drive now except an occasional trip to the store. I guess I'd just like to hear y'alls thoughts on different things, or if there was anything I missed (good or bad) about some of the options I've put forth.

I agree the truck is my number 1 choice... it's just SO hard to find one with the options I want anywhere in the southern United States, haha! That's primarily why I'm considering the others

If you've got the chance, I'd REALLY appreciate it! Mileage on it and a price would be fantastic! In 02 though the level 2 was just called the FX4 Off-Road.

And about how far is it from Maryland to Texas? Hahaha

Yes jeeps can be super badass, but with the amount of money it takes to get to that level a ranger can be as well. Your ranger was sick and it would be a huge injustice to change to a jeep after such an unfortunate event.

Dont go jeep!!

im gonna IM you...

Dude, you already got a 4.0L manual! You can get stuff off a FX4, like bilsteins, BFG's, Torsen locker etc.

Just a suggestion :)

go for the ranger... just dont be so dead set on what u want (accessory wise) - do you really honestly need a big ol truck with a towing pkg and etc etc on it? how much do u plan on using it with your school and what not. yes it comes in handy when you or someone else gets stuck but its not a necessity and sure it looks pretty -- but you can get something later in life that looks pretty. but anyway... thats my two cents.
