Plexiglass floor board. Thoughts?

I cut out my driver side floor board to remove the rust. I was going to weld new sheet metal on, but then my sister suggested making the floor board clear. I would use plexiglass, or lexan. What are your thoughts on this idea. I am not opposed to doing it, but I do not think I have ever seen it done before.

Here is the area that would be replaced. There's gonna be a lot of cleaning up and finishing I would have to do, but when I go offroading, I will be able to see what is under me at all times. I figured I would have to clean the underside a lot to because of all the dirt and grime from the road, but I do think it would still be cool.

I believe there is a rolls Royce with a clear floor. And a floating seat. Looks like your hoovering above the road. Might be cool. Not sure how strong it would be or how to attach it. Rivets maybe?

I was thinking of surrounding the plexiglass edges with aluminum, then bolting it to the floor.
