Pop and Lock Power door installation question
Pop and Lock Power door installation question
Since my truck comes with a power door and locks, I am now leaning towards installing a Power Pop&Lock tailgate lock which is directly connected to the existing power door wiring harness....
I have a question for those forum members that have insttalled this power locks...
On my 2003 XLT the power lock wires are pink w/ orange strip and pink w/ black stip.
Per pop&lock instructions connect the pop&lock wires to my trucks power lock harness (in my case is the pink /orange and pink /black). Is there a specific wire color mathcing between the pop&lock wires to the tucks power lock wire harness?
What I mean is... Does it matter which ever wire color as long as its connected? Please advise. Thanks

Yes, it matters.
Like the power windows the door locks are DC motors, so if one wire is + and the other wire - then motor turns clockwise so window or door lock goes down.
If you reverse the power, so + wire is now - and - wire is now + then motor goes counter-clockwise then window or door lock will go up.
But will you hurt anything by reversing wires..............no, but you do want tail gate to lock not unlock when doors lock.
Which is which?
Don't know, you have the instructions
I would hook it up but leave one end with temporary hookup then test it, if it is reversed then reverse the temp wires and make the final connnection

Thanks for the input RonD...the problem is the pop&lock instruction does not tell which one is + or -, niether I know which one from the truck harness is + or -.
Anyone from the forum knows? Thanks!

It doesn't matter.............hook it up and if it is reversed then hook it up the other way, it won't hurt anything, 50/50 chance of getting it right the first time.
And if the instructions don't have "their" lock/unlock labelled then no one could tell you which wires go together
