I have ver very lil wheeling knowledge when it comes to techniques, so this could be a stpid question but when you're on sand is it best to have your tires fully inflated or partially deflated?
we've been doing it all day and just kicked it on 4x4 and crawled out...we didnt spin them for 45 seconds tho at full speed...hahah i think that was the problem.

On sand you want to lower the air pressure

But man, your truck is my favorite one on this site, and it hurts to watch that vid and see it in that condition. Get that thing back on the road...

i run at about 12 psi when i go. haven't broken a bead yet and the traction you gain going from even 17 to 12 is really noticable imo.

ya, but he is on a 15x10 wheel...12 psi is asking for a beed to pop off.

well actually, he did pop the beed when we tryed to pull him out. He put the spare tire on to get home.

yes, we DID air down. He went to 17 psi and i went to 16...12 psi is a little low to hold a bead on a 15x10 wheel

Wow!! I really dont think there was a "weak link" though, the 35"s AND the entire axle assembly AND the driveshaft AND the springs were all under sandy muddy water nastiness. All that combined is one hell of an anchor when your trying to be pulled out from THAT deep. The springs probably held up as well as any other spring would, except those stupid ones on 4 foot lifted super dutys with like 15 leafs in each pack.........When you got Bill's truck out it sounded like there was a whole crowd of people cheering.

aaron my tool box wouldnt open. i had more items in there to use but the latch broke. so i used what i had out.

if i would have looped the strap on the frame it would have tore. so i wrapped this chain around the crossmember 3-4 times with the strap hooked in the chain.

basically i had no choice but to use it.

This is exactly why I think 15x10's with 12.5" tires is bad news if you offroad. It's interesting that this comes up. I do believe Zach was one of the impassioned people telling folks who asked "15x8 or 15x10?" to get the 10's because of how much better they look.

I run 12 psi with my 15x8's. It's one more reason you should build for function and not looks.

i popped the bead because that was my used tire. the bead or seal wasnt that great on it. they had to used a sealer on it to get it to seal.

none of the other tires popped a bead or did they need to be air down lower. the tire did great IMO.

they were used tires. i got cheap, i posted it a while back. when they went to mount thm he wasnt sure if that tire would hold the bead. he just said we will try it. my plan wasnt to run them for very long anyway.

there were alot of things i did wrong last weekend. as far as im concered it was jsut a learning experience and ill know better next time.

i plan to go back agian.
