small lift thoughts...

i dont want a huge lift on the truck right now considering the fact that im incollege and i just dont have the money to spend. im planning on it a couple years down the road, but right now ive just got a small t-bar crank. i work at o'reillys and we have the chevy shakles on the shelf! what if i bought the shackles tonight, and put them on right now... i cranked the truck to level the front and back... and i dont wanna hafta crank the bars much more, ive done the chevy shackle thing before and they got me about 1.25" of lift in the rear. would it look stupid??? for it to look good would i need to crank the bars a smidge more?

yeah i dont think that you could get the front to even out and if you did you would need new tires to not make it look funny

MonsterGuy (Nick) just did chevy shackles on his 4x4 Ranger, and he has like 2 cranks on his t bars and in the pictures its got a nice rake to it, not noticable, but it dont sag, hes also got 4 leafs out back too so....ide check his truck out for yourself, i like a TINY bit of rake, i absolutly HATE when trucks are higher then the rear, ide rather have a little more rake then have it sag

I have my t bars cranked 3 turns, and i just bought the chevy shackels for the back because to me it sags, drives me ****house...ide say do 1 more turn, put the shackels on, if its to much rake, crank em one more time and get it aligned your into it for under $100 and some time. Youde get 2'' or so out of it

Maybe not the $250 3" body lift. Try out the 1" body lift mod. I only forked out 61 bucks total($37 for bolts, $24 for blocks). Maybe some crankage after that. 32s look great.

well i was actually just thinkin... on my last truck whenever i installed the shackles, it was to try to level the front with the back.... i did this whole experiment thing with f150 coil spacers and it actually turned out okay, but the truck was WAY taller in the front. i put on the shackles and i got 1 1/4". on my CURRENT truck i cranked the front end up about 1 and 1/8 inches.... if i put shackles on the back and it lifts 1 1/4", all ill have to do is maybe 1 more turn and in theory it should sit with a stock rake... just a little taller, which would actually be perfect for now. it should be like doing a 1.5" susp lift on a stock truck.......... of course this is in theory

Im guessing all the way around Nick (MonsterGuy) has about 2'' of lift in comparison to stock, i got a crap load whem i cranked mine then put the 285's on, and this weekend im doing the shackels....I think it will be level, if not a little rake with the shackels, ide do it, for the money hell why not. Shackels give you about 1-2'' of lift in the rear, you can compensate the front with the t bars no doubt.

Do it, i did!! I love it

Just be careful not to go too high on the tbar crank. Severe operating angles will wreak havoc on the ball joints and tie rods. Especially the tie rods, which are paper thin.
