smell?

smell?

after driving my ranger and it gets to full operating temp and when i stop, i notice that under the hood it smells like burning rubberbands.. what could cause this? mines the 2.9 V6 1988 ranger

You got a rubber hose that is touching a hot part of the motor causing it to melt. Thats why it smells like burning rubber.

Belt too tight, or a wobbling pulley?

well i was looknig ati today.. and on my 5th cylinder it was smoking from the manifold, so i got a exhaust leak for a burning up gasket?

Check to make sure it's not something that fell on the manifold or is touching the manifold. It's an 88, right? I remember my 88...god, I miss that truck! but yeah...enough reminiscing, right? Mine smoked a bit, too. but it was a leaky valve cover that gave my truck it's odor.

hmm, yea i need to replace my vavle cover gasket maybe its the oily mixture thats touching the exhaust.. yep its a 88
