in the 1/8th mile, there is a chance, but a slim one. Like stated above, with the "exhaust" he has on the car, the torque does drop a little, but not alot. But, if you can stay on the gas, not miss a shift, and have a good reaction time, you have a slight chance. I got beat in my 67 396 SS chevelle, pushin 650hp at the rear wheels by a souped up neon in the quarter mile, all due to missing one shift.....

Fart cans actually go a ways to reducing torque... Not a lot but it does go a small way... If he has the 4 banger you can take him, if he has the six, it's iffy... Anouther thing is, is your truck a manual? If so, how good are you at shifting? Is his a manual? How good is he on the stick?
Listen to car idle if you can, especially with the can you can hear whether it's a 4 or 6, a 4 will idle kind of like grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr one steady buzz (unless his engine has a misfire!) and if it's a six it won't be steady, kind of grgrgrgrgrgrgrgr

Makes me wish I still had my 5.0 Sport Thunderbird......It sound's like a typical 4 cylinder, I know the difference but sometimes sounds can be deceiving. So if it ends up being a 6 cylinder manual he may be quick. And if it is a 4 cylindner I'll most likely take him... I don't really care win or lose, but I would like to beat him with a truck, it just makes it worse.

If its a 2000, I hate to break it to you, but you have NO chance of winning. I have a friend, one of my closest friends, who has a 99 accord V6 Coupe just like the one you described (except for the riced out crap, he has his euro spec) and there is no way in hell you can take that. We beat a BMW 7 series in Matt's Accord about a year ago and we had 4 people in the car, the BMW had one.
While the Ranger's 4.0 is fast (my 02 is the SRT-4 killer) and fun, it stands no chance against the Accords power curve at 3800RPM's

OK, so trial and error... the Ranger will outrun an Accord, but not in a landslide victory. I was racing my buddy Matt in his 1999 Accord Coupe V6... here's what he said when we got to my house- "damn, if I'm not paying attention, you'll sneak away from me pretty fast." I kept him in my rearview mirror, but was pulling away in a sneaky fashion!
