yes, yes. finally sold the ranger. i'll be driving to temecula for my job now, and that combined with these awesome (read: sarcasm) gas prices made selling the truck the right choice.

i'll without a doubt miss the truck, but i definitely don't regret the decision.





so... what did i get to replace the truck? well i'm glad you asked! i am the proud owner of a 2003 silver ford focus SVT. this thing is freaking awesome, not to mention it makes me feel like i was towing an anchor in the ranger. 170hp zetec engine, moonroof, 6spd manual, leather interior, etc etc. i'm planning on keeping this one much more lightly modded than the ranger; new wheels and tires, colormatched emblems, clear reflectors, and an sq-based audio setup.

i've already got the clear corners, colormatched emblems, and wheels/tires on it. for wheels/tires, i went with enkei evo 6 wheels wrapped in 215/45 bfg sports.

for the system, i've picked up most of the stuff. i'm keeping the stock multidisc headunit since it looks nice and factory-ish, and has steering column controls, so i'm interfacing it to the aftermarket system with a rockford fosgate 3sixty.2 processor. from there, its going to an elemental designs nine amp, which is basically two amps in one (4x100w rms @4ohms AND 1x450w rms @2ohms). the front's will be bi-amped polk audio mmc6500 6 1/2" components, and the sub is an elemental designs k13 SQ sub.

i'll try and get some new pics posted of the new ride asap.

of course i'll be staying on r-f to offer unseen moral support (hehe) and because the members here rock more than the focus forums. thanks to all of you who have helped with my numerous questions over the years! some day, i'll most likely pick up a ranger again... maybe down the road once they come out with a new model ranger or (gasp) F100.

yeah prolly 3 more, and they have to use premium.....however, id rock it, id miss having a truck too much tho

i was getting a steady 16mpg with the truck, plus it was tuned to run premium.

the svt also runs premium, but i'm getting roughly 25mpg in it, so it's a definite improvement.

in the end, i chose the svt over a standard focus for the 'fun' factor. the more powerful engine and the 6spd tranny are totally worth the ~5mpg loss of the svt vs a standard zx3.

 

That was a sweet truck man, but I think people are in the exact same boat as yourself. Regular gas is flirting with $4. Premium is $4.18 right now.


Im sure the focus will look equally as good as your truck did once you make it "yours" and put your touches on it!

 

I understand and will miss your truck. I loved it! I bought a motorcycle because of gas prices.

Yeah your truck was clean... the older version of mine, BUT atleast some peopole know what brand loyalty is though, I want to personally thank you for stickin with Ford, also keep rockin the silver, my old truck was blue and showed dirt bad, I love my silver truck!

It was a very nice truck, and definitely one of my favorites. I'd miss it because I can't live w/o my Ranger. I still haven't done my mileage on my 08' Ranger which has 10, 500 miles now.

Huu... that's interesting , bc today wail at work i was like thinking to myself "if i had to get a car or something .... what would it be? and The First thing that came into my mind Was an svt focus !!! I think i would chose one Because i would have a mod right off the bat =my xcal2 ! and they seem fun , even tho i really hate most everything ford dose , svt is sweet ! nice choice of wheels too! your probably gonna be pretty happy & I'm stoked for you!

getting a moped, gas is 4.09 regular and 4.35 premium as of today here.

 

I hope the truck goes to somebody that will take care it because that thing is clean, and we need some pictures of the focus thanks in advance, lol

 

i just bought $400 worth of detailing supplies, including a meguiars g-100 dual action polisher. i'm actually going to a meguiars detailing class this saturday, then doing a full detail on the svt on sunday, so i should have some pics posted then.

 

Nice choice. I say that because I own a 2002 that has a supercharger on it. It's peak hp is 220 but makes 150 at right above 3k rpms. It's an awesome track car too. I drive the truck everyday and the focus SVT on the weekends.

I did all the mods myself.

Hell I get 28 mpg on the highway with the supercharger. I use to get 30-31 so you should be doing good.
