In texas full coverage is only required if your lein holder (loan people) request it. it doesnt have to be brand new either. if u get a certain company for a loan for a 91 taurus, they might require full coverage for the vehicle if it is in their terms. all on how u pay for it. im an insurance agent. i get bored

That's what I thought. It is the same here (and I suspect nearly everywhere). The cool thing is they hardly check.. at lest Ford didn't on my last two trucks. All I had to do is sign something saying I promise to keep it insured, they never checked! Meanwhile my GF in Mass needed to have a signed binder faxed to the dealer. But Mass is **** anyhow. They don't have temp plates. You have to register the vehicle before you can pick it up, which pretty much means no driving it home that day! In NH we've got like 15 days after we take delivery to register and another 10 after that to inspect.. But anyway..

- who the heck is going to give you a loan for a 91 Taurus??
maybe a street lot 'buy here pay here' dealer, but no bank that I know of...
likely they would not require collision coverage
Louie the leg breaker or Keith the knee capper protects their investment - insurance has little to do with it
