Rear Alignment problem need advice.

I have a 2006 4x4 standerd cab ranger. It has been pulling to the right for a long time so I took it to pep boys to get my alignment down. The mechanic told me that my rear axles alignment was off and he didnt have the experiance or know how to fix it. He told me it isnt going to be a problem and I can keep it like that for the life of the truck and the only thing it might affect is the wear on the tires. Is this true? Should I even bother looking into fixing it? What would need to be done and roughly how much would it cost?

if the front end was aligned, and the rear was not...wouldn't that cause the vehicle to dog-track (the rearend just sticks over to one side a bit)?

1 of the main spring mounts on the frame was not welded in the proper place

moves the 1 side of the axle either slightly forward or rearward

It is a solid rear axle, it can't be aligned

To the OP
Did you buy the truck used ?
If so , get a carfax report. If it was in an accident the frame may be tweaked enough to misalign the axle.

The carfax are clean and I don't see any signs of an accident.

If this is the case is it even worth getting it fixed?

I'd take the truck somewhere else to get aligned. obviously if that guy told you they have a problem aligning the rear, the whole shop is full of idiots. Same happened to me last week when i went to look for carrier bearings at napa....the guy told me no rangers had an 8.8 axle i just lol'ed and walked out

Not necessarily, what they are talking about is the thrust angle on the rear. like when u go over bumps and stuff, or off roading. ranger have squirrely rearends so over time, or heavy use, just tweaks the rear a bit where the axle moves every so slightly to one side or something. so when u look at it from the very back, it looks like the wheels are not directly in front of each other, in regards to the front.
