2003 ford ranger, odd misfire
2003 ford ranger, odd misfire
Hey yall, ive been dealing with a weird misfire on my 3.0 ranger 2003. Got of after sitting for awhile and ran terribly, replaced the intake manifold and pcv valve, and it ran much better but with a misfire. I replaced some other things like the plugs, plug wires, fuel pump, cleaned sensors, fuel filter etc. I then decided to change the ignition coil, and it ran amazing for a good day. I floored it and pulled back into my house and it started running like before, almost sounds like 2 cylinders are not firing. It misfires under load, like going uphill and over a certain throttle amount.
Tested the resistance on the coilpack, and it came back as 1.4 ohms, 1.4 ohms and .8 ohms, hinting at the coil blowing. The coilpack I replaced it with was a cheaper $20 coilpack from amazon, (the one that made it run great). I then replaced it with an autozone $80 one and it still ran like crap.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I've come to learn these rangers are particular about replacement parts. If you can swing it motorcraft is always the best to put back in. If not look for a higher rated oem replacement. They cost a bit more but sometimes you get what you pay for i suppose
