5.0 swap in my 97 ranger

Hello everyone, I知 starting this thread because I want to 5.0 swap my 97 ranger xlt 4.0l v6. I recently bought this truck and it has either a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Now I知 thinking to just swap it with a 5.0 from a mustang. Any thought on this? I have never done this before. So to those who have or are knowledgeable on this I知 wondering if I need any specific tools (engine jack obviously), about how much it will cost, and what parts I知 going to need. Really anything that anyone knows to help me out. Thank you.

You need to get an 1996-2001 Explorer V8, whole vehicle, 2WD if that's what you have, for the swap, 1996/97 are best years, no anti-theft

The mustang electrics and computer are a pain to deal with and you need most of the wiring from engine bay, so whole car is best

Yes! What about the engine mounts and transmission mounts. Do they all fit together or am I going to have to do some more research about those parts?

Read this article all the way thru: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...-ford-rangers/

That will give you an idea of what you will need, pay attention to the differences in 2WD and 4x4
