'94 Ranger Intermittent Brake Lights
'94 Ranger Intermittent Brake Lights
Hey y'all,
My 1994 Ranger is having some brake light issues. All three lights work, but when I even let off the pedal slightly, the lights turn off. This means on an average stop, my lights end up flickering a lot.
Anyway, I've gathered that this is a pretty common problem, but I'm not sure what the fix would be. I replaced the stop light switch yesterday thinking it would solve the problem, but no beans. Anyone got any insight?
Thanks!
Will

It can only be the stop light switch on brake pedal
Did you replace Master or booster lately?
There is an adjustment between master and booster and it may be too tight, this will make brake pedal engage brakes at very top of pedal travel, which is wrong, so pedal is not going down far enough to keep brake lights on
Should be able to press brake pedal down a few inches before you get braking

Just take off the two nuts that hold master to Booster and pull master away from booster, NO fluid will come out, if it does then you have another problem, lol
You will see an adjustment nut/bolt on the booster's shaft, adjust it in toward the booster, right now its pushing the Master piston in a bit, should just barely be touching it, when master is bolted on
Pretty easy to do so adjust as you see fit
Start engine and feel pedal, re-adjust for your preference
