95 2.3 thats powerless
Hi there,
So I've been driving my 1995 2.3 2x4 ranger and getting some really bad MPG, around 17 MPG. Also to go along with this, no power. Half the time when i'm driving the peddle is to the floor just to get up to speed or go up a hill.
What I've done so far is clean the MAF, new plugs, wires, air filter and some Lucas injector cleaner.
My MPG is now up to 20.34 highway. I am still under powered.
Here is some OBD II data revving the car in neutral. I think it kinda looks like a vacuum leak. Let me know what you guys think. I can post more OBD data if needed.

Unplug IAC Valve while WARM engine is idling, if RPMs drop to 500 or engine stalls then no vacuum leak.
If idle stays at 700 or high then you do have a leak.
1995 will have a Fuel pressure regulator(FPR) on the fuel rail
FPR will have the fuel Return line attached AND a vacuum hose
Remove vacuum hose and check it for fuel or fuel smell, if FPR leaks raw fuel can be sucked in, lowers MPG and power
Google: Ranger throttle cable mod
Throttle cable can stretch so you no longer get full power from engine

I unplugged the IAC valve. My idle RPM was around 825. Which seems a bit high. Coolant temp averaged 194˚. 825 plugged in. 570 unplugged. I've attached the OBD data at the bottom of the page.
Disconnected the FPR gave it a sniff but smelled no gas.
Tested the throttle cable by looking at the throttle position sensor on the OBD. Held the throttle open under the hood with a finger and got a reading of 92˚. When I get in the car and floor it get the same reading 92˚.
I went ahead and did a fuel pressure test. At idle Im getting 30psi and at turn key 38psi. Having a hard time finding what the specs should be for a 95 2.3.
