Blower fan wont come on.

94 2.3 Ranger. Just the other day the blower just stopped coming on altogether. Still have power as pushing in the fan **** lights up for a/c and compressor cycles. Checked the fuse next to the blinker relay and it's good. Resistor also looks good. I'm assuming there is no relay in the 94 model. I bought a new motor and no change. I guess I'm down to the actual switch below the radio. Can I jumper the 7 slot connector that goes into the switch to test and see if the fan will come on?

The switch is the GROUND for the blower

Fuse 9, 30amp, sends 12volts directly to the blower, when key is ON, Brown/orange stripe wire

The switch is the ground side for the blower, direct ground for High, thru resistors for the other speeds

At the resistor block you should see 2 orange/black stripe wires in the same slot, one goes to the Blower, the other comes from HIGH on the switch, if you ground those wires, and key is ON, blower should come on at HIGH speed, if not then the 12v from fuse 9 is not making it to the blower

Pin 7 on the switch(black wire) is the Main Ground for the switch/blower, its grounded in the cab, so yes if you Ground Pin 7 and resistor block is plugged in, all the speeds should work, if not then switch is bad

I have voltage at the connector going to the blower motor. Using a volt meter with key on and switch set to high it reads 12 volts with the prongs in the blower connector. When I plug in a new motor, tested good off battery, it does not spin. Do I have an amperage problem?

Also, When I plug in the new motor or old motor I lose voltage at the connector. Unplug the motor and voltage is back.

Bypassing the switch and grounding the org/bk gives the same result.

So my 12 volt is breaking down somewhere, the black wire with orange stripe connecting to the blower. Plugging in only the ground from the new fan into the blower connector and running a hot wire from the positive side of the battery, the fan works as it should at every speed.

Ok, behind the passenger side kick panel was a connector that the 12v wire was ran through. It was completely melted.

Not good, did someone put in a larger fuse in 9, should be 30amp

But wire could have been chaffed, and slowly shorted out not quite blowing the fuse

That's the odd part, there was a 10 amp fuse in it that was still good.
