Blowing #10 fuse

New member,thanks for the add.
I have a 1998 ranger 4x2 , 2.5 engine. It keeps blowing the #10 fuse, this fuse has a lot on it, turn signal, wipers, gem mod, dome light, door chime, speedometer, shift lock, and more. I was told it was the GEM mod, so I replaced it, still blowing the #10 fuse. Any idea of what might be the reason or what or how to check next
Also do they make a circuit breaker or something that Will plug in where you put the fuse, so I can test different things and not keep blowing fuses

Welcome to the forum

Diagram of what fuse 10(in cab fuse box) powers below

With fuse 10 out, turn key on
Use a volt meter to test the fuse slot to see which leg has 12volts, thats the Power side of fuse, you want to test the OTHER leg with OHM meter
Key off and in your pocket

Set OHM Meter to 1k or 2k
Put one probe in "Other" leg and other probe to a Ground, 0 ohms is a dead short to ground, under 200ohms is also a short to ground, should see over 500 ohms once short is removed
Then start unplugging devices connected to fuse 10

Flasher is probably easiest to get at
next is Shift Lock but.............this is only found on Automatics, not used on manual trans models
Then unplug the Cruise Module in engine bay, again only if you have cruise control option

All the time checking if OHMS suddenly go UP which means short has been removed/found

If you fold down Glove Box all the way you can see the Blend Door actuator up on top of heater air box, these electric motors were a "known issue" on Fords, unplug it next

The GEM and Climate(AC/Heater) controls are next, need to remove panels to access these

Worst case is, if one of these grey/yellow stripe wires has shorted to ground somewhere, very very hard to locate shorts like that

The GEM controls wipers and interior lights so if fuse 10 is blown none of these work because GEM is OFF, but these are not powered by fuse 10

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately I tried to check for short and it shows no short. It blows sometimes when I start the truck sometimes it dont, sometimes when I turn heater control, sometimes when I'm just driving down the road. It did this about 4 months ago for Abt 2 days then it was fine for Abt 3 1/2 months. Now it is doing it again. I can start it and try everything I can think of to make it blow and it won't, drive a little bit and it blows, or it blow's several days later. I'm ready to pull My hair out if I had any
