Check Gauge Light Is On

I Have Had This Truck For About 2.5 Years And The Check Gauge Light Has Always Been On. It Seems To Have Never Had A Problem That I Thought But Should I Replace The Oil Pressure Sending Unit. Will It Cause Damage? It Has Started To Run Sluggish And I Get Like 12 Mpg Will This Help?

The 3.0L oil pressure sending switch is in the block behind the passenger side cylinder head. It is much easier to see through the PS wheel well than from above.

I just replaced the intermittent sending unit on my 2001 4.0 and it was a little tricky but not as hard as I expected. Used a 13/16th plug socket and an extension. Better reached from under the truck.
