Clicking/ticking noise

I have a 89 Ranger STX 4x4 5-speed manual today, while going down a mountain in low gear it started making a ticking/clicking noise from the rear passenger tire area. Sounds about like sticking a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle. It only makes the noise while in gear and coasting, if it's in neutral or accelerating it doesn't make the noise. Not sure if it's related but shortly after it started I was backing up and it started making a squeaking noise as if maybe it's one of the brake shoes on that side sticking? Would that make a clicking noise like that? Open to any opinions on this and anything I should check. Thanks in advance
