Clock light and P light stays on.

Hello,

Just bought a Ranger and have some issues I want to get to the bottom of. I have a 2014 XLS Ranger (im in Australia).

Previous owner has installed a Sony stereo head unit which im thinking may be the issue. But the clock is permanently on as well as the red “P” light indicating the gear stick is in park. Im thinking maybe he used the wrong wiring lume and module perhaps. Also the steering controls for the stereo dont work.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.

If you can look at the wiring diagrams for the radio. I actually think you have two different issues. (P) light on the dash is an indicator of the parking brake/brake system. Either the parking brake is set, your brake fluid level could be low are just two of the symptoms for the (P) on the dash.

The clock could be part of the radio install. Again look at the wiring diagram and see which color goes to the dash lights or constant 12v and see if they are connected with the clock.

Ok thanks,

It is the “P” light down by the gear stick though. Not on the dash. Probably doesnt make much difference though I guess? Photos below, I am reffering to the factory clock above the stereo head unit and the red park ligjt bext to the gearstick.
