Is it possible to deactivate the panic button on the key fob without physically changing the fob? I've read where people have taken the fob apart and changed the inner parts. I don't want to do that.

No, must take fob apart, you can just put some paint on the back of the Panic button, non-metallic paint, lol, nail polish works great even has a small brush with it

The Fob buttons all have a graphite coating on the back, like ALL remotes, even your TV remote
When you press the button down the graphite(conducts electricity) connects two copper terminals which activates that function
Covering the graphite with paint(does not conduct electricity) prevents it from activating that function


And just FYI, you can buy liquid graphite to paint onto buttons that no longer function, highly used buttons have the graphite wear off so button gets intermittent or stops working
