Dead Horn???

My horn has not been working for years, has anyone else had this problem. It doesn't have any steering wheel buttons, so if the clock spring is dead I wouldn't know.

It might be as simple as a bad horn. My '99 is located on the drivers side front corner ahead of the battery.. if you remove the connector you can take a small wire and touch the battery positive and the horn terminal. The horn should blow. If it blows you have a circuitry problem. If it does not blow you have a bad horn.

Thanks, nelbur! Took a voltage meter to the terminal and ground, everthing was good, then took a small wire to it and the battery and it didn't blow. Got a new horn, replaced it. Still didn't blow. Found out that the horn fuse decided to blow. Original fuses, so makes sense why it blew, having the same issue with most of them lol. You were right on the money, than you!

My guess is that the horn developed a short when it died, which blew the fuse. There are other failure modes that would not have blown the fuse. Your small wire from the battery positive would have blown the new horn.

I had tested it the same way as the old horn and it blew. I can only assume that your explanation is correct. I know the horn has been dead for about fifteen years and that was when my dad was driving it. Sounds great now! It's not the original dual horn setup, but it will work, and that's all I need it to do!
