alright so i have an 04 ford ranger xlt 4x4. yesterday i was pulled over for having but not having break lights. my break lights are stuck on including the cab light if i have my headlights on. while driving at night and use my left turn signal the front indicator light just stay solid, along with my dash inidcator light and the rear tailight doesnt work at all. . if i have my headlights off everything works normally ecpect my left rear turn signal but the front blinks as it shoudl along with my dash indicator light. on top of that. if my truck is completely off with the key out and i hit my breaks my dash and radio lights come on along with my running lights.. about 2 weeks ago i have a check engine light come on but it goes away after driving. i checked fuses and found nothing that needed replaced. PLEASE HELP!!

 

I would start by replacing the multi-function switch(turn signal stalk)
Your described issues can be from a short inside that switch

Unplug it and then turn on the headlights, see if other lights come on that shouldn't
brake light on cab should still work(press down brake pedal) with switch unplugged but no rear brake or turn signals with switch unplugged

 

so i changed the multi function switch and its didnt solve the issue so i returned it. and figured id try a new headlight switch. which solved the problem for about 3 mins now it works when it wants to. sometimes my blinker works and when it doesnt my breaklights are stuck on.
