Exhaust Options, CATs stolen

Exhaust Options, CATs stolen
Good morning,
Thanks for the opportunity to join Ranger-Forums. I purchased a 2002 Ranger XLT 4x4 4.0 L for my High School Freshman. Well as luck would have it, 2 days after I bought it someone stole the Catalytic Convertors off the truck. I mean all 4 Catalytic Convertors, the 2 on the Y pipe and the two on the main pipe before the muffler. I called my local exhaust shops and it will be around $2500 to replace the whole system. I am absolutely sick because I purposely bought this truck for my son as his 1st vehicle and wanted a cheap vehicle I wouldn't be upset if he scratched it and what not and now can't even license the darn thing because it is so loud and nobody will touch it will a 10 foot pole or a couple of grand.
So my question is, can someone tell me if they sell a new Y Pipe that would directly bolt to the manifolds (with o2 Sensor plugs) a mid-pipe, muffler and aftermarket tailpipe? Now before I get the "illegal, EPA no-no, and other replies" I will let you know this truck will finish it's life Off Road
I own an acreage and some hunting land with Horses and Cattle and plan to leave this vehicle there will no plans of it returning to the road. That said I have to have it safe and quite, 1 - to not scare the livestock and 2 - to keep the exhaust fumes from coming into the cab.
Some information to help guide me:
2002 Ford Ranger XLT
4x4 Off Road
4.0l Engine with Auto Transmission
Both upstream o2 sensors are intact and no CELs
Here are some pictures of the exhaust chop job the pirates did:
Here you can see how they cut the Y Pipe, Driver's side right before the Cat, same on Passenger side.
Passenger side view through the Wheel well, notice the damage around the o2 sensor, but intact they are on both sides
Thank you,
Mike

Welcome to the forum
I don't think you can get a pre-made Y pipe for the 4.0l SOHC without Cats
There was a company that made them for off-road use but they are long gone
Check independent exhaust shops, they can make/bend custom exhausts
You will need to have at least one universal Cat with an O2 bung for the downstream O2 sensor, or his CEL(check engine light) will be on all the time, also makes it LEGAL for the exhaust shop to do the work
Shops can be fined up to $25,000 for working on exhaust systems with no Cats, if the vehicle came with Cats in that year
You could buy pre-made exhaust system for under $1,500 and bolt it in yourself
Y pipe with Cats should be about $750
Cat/muffler and tail pipe $500-$600
Look for wrecked 2001-2006 Ranger 4.0l or Mazda B4000
See if you can buy just the exhaust system, complete
Most wrecking yards can not sell used Cats, with exhaust systems, doesn't mean you can't ask

I checked my local exhaust shops, they won't touch it unless they put all new exhaust on it.
I found a wrecked 2004 Ranger, not sure if they are the exact same exhaust-wise as they had minor changes to the front end and interior that year, but the guy is a scrapper and wants 1100 bucks for the exhaust system, he claims he gets 225 a piece for the Cats and the bolts are difficult to remove. I can't believe the prices of exhaust systems, I have a 409 stainless duals on my Fox Body that cost under $1000.
If I could just find two pipes that come from the manifolds and meet in the middle and put a y like the one below, I can mount a single 2.25 pipe and muffler and be done with this headache.

Anyone have experience using these eBay cats?
Found these on eBay, should be around 300 for all cats, concerns or go for it? Should I be concerned with the bolts on the exhaust manifold? Are they reusable? And finally o2 sensors, replace all or use old? I would like to hear if anyone has attempted this bolt on replacement job???
