Fog light wiring--05 Ranger
Fog light wiring--05 Ranger
I bought my Ranger new, and then promptly got it in a fender bender.
It was a bit weird, but replacement bumpers and valance was not readily available at the time I took it in for repairs
Ended up putting a bumper and valance for a 4x4 pickup on it and it has foglights in the valance.
So, now that I am spending more time at home, I got to thinking about hooking those things up.
Last weekend, I replaced the stereo and noticed that there is a connector behind the bezel that has a connector for what I believe is the foglight switch.
I have sourced the correct 2x4 foglight bezel and switch/bracket.
Im wondering where the other end of the wiring is for that connector.
Finding the other end, and going from there might be beneficial to a stock looking upgrade and reduce my under the dash labor (and who wants to crawl under there).
I have seen in some instances where the pigtails may already be in the front harness, but I don't see them, ---maybe taped up.
Have no problem with wiring stuff up, but I need them to work as intended from Ford. (only on with low beams)
So, if anyone might have a factory wiring diagram that I could have a look at it would be appreciated-----oh---and maybe connection point locations as well.
Thanks
Bryan

The switch will have 4 wires used
2 are for back light and ground
1 is for "Fog Lights ON" indicator
1 is to control the Fog Light Relay in the engine fuse box, it Grounds the relay turning it on
The fog light relay's coil was powered by the SJB(body computer) which would turn off the head lights when fog lights were on, which is what you want in fog
You can look in the engine fuse box and see if the Fog Light Relay spot has metal clips for a relay, if not then wiring is not there
So there will be alot of missing wiring
You can use the switch but it would be easier to just wire your own relay to power the fog lights, to turn them on and off as you want
Wiring diagram below, 2004 will be the same as 2005, you would need a 2005 Ranger EVTM to see where the wires are actually run
