gauges ground wire location
gauges ground wire location
i put LEDs in my cluster the other day and put it all back together and they lit up but my gauges didnt work....everything was frozen. I replaced the fuse and it immediately blew so it has to be a bad ground....only problem is i have no idea where the ground wire for the gauge cluster is located. Anyone wanna help me out with this????! thanks
Why a ground... ?
The ground should be part of the harness, not a lot of chance of no ground and I do not believe a missing ground would cause a fuse to blow immediately.
Maybe a pinched wire !
Pull the dash again, check for a wire, pinched or broken.

Remove the panel, try putting another fuse, if it does not blow right away, get another cluster and try it.
If that one does not blow a fuse then the problem is now narrowed down to the cluster itself.
Another thought... Maybe if you remove of the bulbs, plug in the cluster and see if the fuse blows again.
The only problem is that the circuit part of the cluster is Mylar, tracing out that flexible circuit could be a b!tch.
Sounds like there is short for sure, not a missing ground.
Can't tell you more than that, sorry !
