2004 Ford Ranger XLT w/ 2.3L eng.

Greetings.

Just replaced both L/R headlamps as the low beam on each was not working. (I've had them burn out at the same time before). The new lamps low beams did not light either, but the high beams did. Checked all the related fuses and replaced the low beam fuses anyway, with the same results. About 2 years ago I replaced the turn signal- hi/lo beam switch when I noticed the headlights would stay on. Can't think of any other cause for this particular symptom. Any ideas?

Pretty straight forward circuit

Fuse #23(cab fuse box) is for main head light switch, 30amp, it powers both low and high beams

When light switch is on the power passes thru the multi-function switch(turn signal stalk) to the LOW beams but thru fuses 3 and 4(cab fuse box) then to the low beam bulbs

High beam is selected but pulling back or pushing forward on multi-function stalk, this turns off low beam power

Battery-----------fuse 23-----------------multi-function---------fuse 3(or 4)----------------------low beam head light

Test if you have voltage on fuse 3 or 4 with head light switch on
If not then pull off multi-function switch and check wiring

I only show 1 wire from main light switch to multi-function switch for both low and high beams so can't see main switch problem if high beams work

DRL(daylight running lights) Bypasses main light switch and multi-function switch, and sends pulsed power(9volts) directly to fuses 3/4 to power low beams, if you have that option

Yeah, no current @ 3 & 4. Must be the switch itself. Don't see any fouled wiring at the switch. looks to be a sealed unit, like the original. Will probly have to replace it...again.
