2002 Ranger has PATS, passive anti-theft system

So without one of the memorized transponder keys, computer will not work so no fuel injection

The inertia switch is in the cab, passenger side behind glove box area on firewall, looks like this(arrow): https://www.explorerforum.com/forums...pi-jpg.198133/
The Inertia switch cuts power to fuel pump if vehicle has a sudden stop or roll over, so an accident
The green wire is 12volts IN(from FP relay), pink wire is 12volts OUT to fuel pump

If you put a 20amp switch on either of those wires, and switch is OFF then no fuel pump
Or use a 30amp relay

In the engine bay the Coil Pack has red 12volt wire, no 12v = no spark

My personal choice, back in the day, 40 years ago, lol, was a time delayed Kill switch
Cut the Coil "-" line from the points, so no spark, but AFTER 5, or so, minutes
My thinking was if a thief hot wired the engine and started driving vehicle away, they would be out on a Road after 5 min, and engine would stall
Now they are exposed, are they going to stick around, or run away, my bet is RUN AWAY

If you give a thief enough time in a quiet hidden place, they will defeat any alarm or kill switch
If they are out on a Public road, they will NOT try to figure out whats wrong, they will RUN AWAY

I was looking at some stuff on YouTube and came across and idea for a relay to the starter and a 12v power source ex. Brake light…. I’m thinking to the reverse light cuz let’s face it who puts a standard transmission in reverse to start a car? Any thoughts pls tell me more about a delayed kill switch how to you wire it

Starter motor is too easy to bypass with a screwdriver, so forget that idea
And if its a manual trans then "bump starting" is an option for a thief

Need to disable spark or fuel

Just google: 12volt timers
Loads of them off the shelf these days

Timer would activate a 5 pole relay that was powering spark or fuel unless it was turned off after start up
5 pole relay would pass voltage to spark or fuel when its OFF, it would cut that voltage if relay was activated by timer

Back in the old days, we used to rewire the ciggy lighter as a kill switch. Right out in plain sight, but you gotta pull it out to start 'er up.

Best option these days is to have a manual transmission. Replace the end with one that doesn't have the shift pattern on it.
