Manual ECU
Welcome to the forum
You can use your current PCM(ECU) for now, the CEL(check engine light) will just come on because there are no automatic transmission solenoids hooked up
But everything should work just fine, idle will be higher

YOUR ZIPCODE or POSTAL CODE
Search
New window will come up, you want a 2.3l ECU for an MT(manual transmission) 4X2
You want the ID to start with F67F- , this means 1996 Ranger, F5 is 1995, F7 1997, 7 = Ranger, older and newer will work but best to get 1996
The ending number is a Revision/software, go with the higher 3 digit letters, i.e. BAA is older software then DAA, DAB is later than DAA
And if none found locally try another one
Search
Should show local wrecking yards with ECUs
Most will ship

No reprogramming needed
ODD, I saw about 6 different ones with 3 digits, scroll down the list, but maybe my area has a bigger selectiom
Also if possible look at your current number
Should be F67F-12A650-XX or XXX
Just FYI 12A650 is the part number for every Ford computer ever made and still being made, so it id usually not included in IDing an engine ECU, since the all have that same number
You do not want to match the XX or XXX because that would be for a 2.3l Automatic, thats what the last numbers are
And Ford never released a cross reference, wrecking yards and some ECU rebuilders have records of what came from what
