New Alt = Check engine light!?!

So I installed my new 170amp alternator today. Now I have a check engine light that won't go away. I will be leaving in a little bit to go to auto zone and see if they can tell me what is up, does anybody have any ideas?

Also is there any way that I can check to make sure that my alternator is working like it is supposed to? thanks

Check Engine? Or Check Guage? IF the alternator wasnt working right, the battery guage would be really low.

Double check all connections..you may have forgotten the connector that tells the ECU the alterntor is working.

If you have a voltmeter- measure the volts from the battery with the engine off and again with the engine running. It should be higher with the engine running. Probably around 12 engine off and 14 with engine running.

Ok so I went to auto zone and ran the code.

It turned out to be a P0113-IAT Sensor 1 Circuit High Input. I cleared the code and all has been good since. I asked the guy at auto zone about the IAT sensor and why it would have went off. He said that more then likely it was a "hick-up" signal since the code cleared and since what I did should have had nothing to do with the new alternator. I am glad about this!

graniteguy- i don't have a voltmeter, but I am going to try and find somebody with one and check to make sure everything is working good. I turned my truck on and off a ton of times since I put it on and no issues, so I figure it is working good.

That's weird. The IAT is part of the MAFS. Only way to have that unplugged is to unplug the whole MAFS plug. I have done that before and have driven with my MAFS unplugged (Was doing some testing) and had no CEL light.

I guess it was a hickup. I would take some CRC Electrical Contact Cleaner and clean the MAFS/IAT incase there is anything on there.

LOL, yah.

FYI I did un-hook the MAF when I took off the intake tube to install the alternator. I did run the truck for a little bit before re-installing the intake tube and figure this is what pulled the code first. I would figure that the code would go away when I re-plugged everything, but guess not. It's all good now so :D
