Icon4 Oil Pressure Gauge Flutter (ground wire question)

Hello All,
I have a 2002 Ranger with the 2.3 that is 4x2 and has a manual transmission. When I was driving this morning after engine warming up on way to town I noticed my oil pressure gauge was fluttering when I was stopped at a light and in neutral. Yesterday, I was replacing my emergency brake mechanism and had to grind through rubber boot holding emergency brake wire in place. I noticed I sliced through a tiny black wire (ground wire?) that was located by this little blue sensor behind the clutch pedal. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Not sure what wire or sensor that would be but not related to oil pressure sensor, splice wire back together.

2000 Ranger should have a 2.5l Lima engine??

Oil pressure gauge is hooked by 1 wire to an oil pressure switch on the drivers side of engine block toward the rear(2.5l), it is a screwed in switch with 1 wire connected.
Could be wire is loose or switch is starting to go bad.
Just above this switch is the Temp sender for the dash temp gauge.

The oil pressure switch is the Ground for the gauge, when oil pressure is 6psi or higher the switch closes and oil pressure gauge will show 1/3-1/2 and that shouldn't change with RPMs.
Lower than 6psi pressure and gauge will go to 0.
Loose connection or failing switch will cause fluctuations.

Not sure on the Duratec 2.3l, try looking on or near oil filter housing
