Over drive switch.

I have a 2003 ford ranger. The switch on shift lever only works part of the time. It snows hear in Mich. So I need to turn off the OD. Need some help.

Welcome to the forum

Its called the TCS(transmission control switch)
It is powered by Fuse #2(10amp) in cab fuse box

Fuse #2----------(purple/orange wire)------------------TCS------------(tan/white wire)-------------------------------pin29 on Computer

Computer starts off with OD on, so each time you turn on the key/computer it defaults to OD on
When you press the OD(TCS) button the computer gets 12volts on pin 29, and it TOGGLES to opposite setting, so if OD was on then it turns OD off, if OD was off then it would turn it on, so toggles each time it gets 12volts on pin29

The wire colors above are to the lower steering column connector, the wires from that connector up to the button are NCA, this means No Color Assigned, or in other words they used different wiring harnesses on different models and never kept track if it, lol.

First thing I would check is the fuse, and TEST IT, don't just look at it

And just a heads up, TCS can also stand for traction control switch on Fords

Try this part number for the switch: F58Z-7G550-AA
