Last year I got a THP 5R55E valve body for my 08 2.3L Ranger and it's been working good (some erratic and hard shifts occasionally), but lately the OD light comes on and I have to push the OD button on the stalk until it shifts back to OD engaged and drop the rpms. This started about 2 months ago and would only happen very randomly. The last few days it has been happening a lot and I have to get the light to go out and hold the button in. Do you think this could be a solenoid problem, a switch on the stalk problem or something else? I rarely ever need to disengage the OD, if I disconnect the switch (pull the fuse if it has one or pull the OD solenoid wires) would it keep from disengaging the OD?

The OD button is called the TCS(transmission control switch), which was also used by Ford for "traction control system" in other years and models, lol

It doesn't have a separate fuse, fuse #20 in cab fuse panel powers it but also other transmission functions so.................wouldn't tell you much to pull it

The way TCS works is it has 2 wires, one has 12v key on, the other goes to pin 29 on the Computer(PCM)

PCM boots up with OD ON every time
If PCM pin 29 sees a MOMENTARY 12v it toggles to OD OFF, another MOMENTARY 12v toggles to OD ON.
So its not 12v on = OD ON, or 12v off = OD OFF, any momentary 12v causes PCM to toggle OD on or off

So yes could be a bad switch, not sure a bad wire would do it unless the 2 wires to the TCS were shorting together

If the PCM gets 12v all the time on pin 29 it will set a transmission code P07xx or P17xx
