Power window issue

Power window issue
Drivers side switch will not open or close either window. Passenger side switch works well.so I'm assuming not a fuse issue.put 12 v to drivers side motor and goes up and down no problem.would the switch be the issue? Not willing to spend over 100 for switch and find out it's not.

Google up Ford Ranger power window switch....have seen them for as low as 15 bucks on e-bay. Check out Amazon, Parts Geek, OE Fords parts, ect...no where near 100 bucks.
Never give up searching....lost of places to check.
Try changing the passenger switch side contacts with the drivers side...if that works than you know the drivers side switch is bad.

What Year Ranger?
Most years the passenger switch is grounded via the drivers side switch, that's how the drivers side can operate the passenger side, via the 2 ground wires
In most years the drivers side and passenger side share a 12volt wire from same fuse, so if one side works its not the fuse
In 1995 and up Ford added "one touch" open on drivers side, so you don't have to hold the button, but that shouldn't effect passenger side window control from drivers side switch
If there was a problem with the 12volt wire in drivers door that would effect both switch in that door but not passenger side switch
So when door switch is out test for 12volt key on power on light blue/black stripe wire(wire color depends on the year)

Yes, there should be a plug(connector) behind the drivers side kick panel for the drivers door wiring harness, also a ground wire or two, bolted to body
In most cases the doors are pre-wired/pre-assembled with boot and connector sticking out, and then installed/hung during full assembly
So not really an easy way to fix a broken wire inside the boot
If you can ID the wire by color you can often "fish" a new wire thru the boot, and then splice it at both ends
But glad you found the problem, good work

Hi my 2011 ranger
when you flip the switch to driver moves prefectural but when you flip the it to passenger it moves the driver mirror but when I probed Sent power or ground it would move the passenger. I guess my quest is should I open that boot in where the door opens see if I got a cut wire ??

I just replaced my switch with a new one and still the driver side window is not working. But when I toggle the switch, I hear the relay under the dash ticking. I removed it and clean the connections but still no luck. Could the relay be bad or does the ticking mean its still working and the problem lies elsewhere?

Does the motor work when you connect it to 12v and ground directly?
With key on you have both 12volts and a Ground at the door switch, you can unplug the motor's 2 wire connector and use jumper wires to connect motor directly to 12v and ground, motor should move instantly
Reversing the 12v and ground makes motor turn the other way
If no action then motor is bad
