PX1 3.2L TD oil cooler change

Hey gang,

rather new to the forum and had a look around but couldn’t seem to find anything that quite fits my question.
so the short version of the storey is, I noticed quite a bit of oil in my coolant by no coolant in my oil. This lead me to 1 of 3 possible culprits. 1- Head gasket, bad EGR cooler or the Oil Cooler. After deciding to seek some professional diagnosis they have come back rather confident it’s the Oil Cooler which makes sense.
Now I know this is a relatively easy swap once you move some things and one I am confident I can do. However it dawned on me that the oil pump on these needs to be primed.

my question or seeking some guidance is if I change out the oil cooler will I still need to prime the oil pump after? or because the pickup in the sump is lower than the cooler will this have any real impact? As in I’ll loose some oil but nothing I can’t top up?

any guidance is really appreciated as I can do it myself if pay $2K + for the work and a few flushes of the system to get all that oil out.
