Ranger 4x4 low not working.

Hi guys, A couple weeks ago I was checking out the 4x4 high and low
and everything worked like it should. Tonight I put it in 4x4 high, and
it is working, but before switching back to 4x2, I flipped the switch to
4 low and it would not go into 4x4 low. I tryed putting the auto in neutral
and tryed, but it still would not go into 4 low. The 4x4 high is working
though. Anyone know why it wont go into 4 low? It is a 04 Ranger Edge
4x4 five speed auto.
Thanks.

Check your user manual. I think the procedure for automatics is to have the truck in neutral, foot on the brake, at a complete stop. Flip the switch to 4lo and you should be good to go. You can only go into 4lo from 4hi, and you can only go from 4lo back into 4hi. Don't try to switch it straight from 2wd to 4lo all at once.

Yeah you have to be at a dead stop, in neutral, with your foot on the brake.
