RAP Module location?

Where is the rap module located in a 1995 xlt? I've read that it's behind the trim panel behind driver seat below back window, and I've read it's also behind the trim behind the flip up seat on driver side. I've torn apart all the trim panels and there is nothing in either of those locations. My ranger is definitely equipped with one because I have a transponder and alarm definitely works. I'm just trying to upgrade to a 2 way system and cannot find where the factory one is located

RAP module is for keyless entry(RKE), do you have keyless entry?

Transponder keys are only on 1999 and up Rangers, and they don't use RAP module either

Only location for RAP module in 1995 Ranger is behind drivers seat area, small WHITE box, looks like this one: https://www.explorerforum.com/forums...b8ae992d33.jpg

Yes I do have keyless entry. It's original factory alarm/keyless entry

I looked at the photo, where in the vehicle is that exactly. I took out the big trim panel that goes around the flip up seat in the back behind the driver seat, as well as the trim panel right under the back window.

Picture is from an Explorer not a Ranger, just to show what you are looking for

On regular cab it should be behind the panel with drivers seat belt, on extended cab it cab be there or all the way to the back under the rear window
That's for 1995 to 1997 Rangers

I believe I've found it. It was located right under driver seatbelt behind the metal.

Now that I've found it, that leads me to my next question,

Am I able to unplug the module and remove it and install my new 2 way module in its place by tapping into the wiring that is already there? That seems like that would be the most efficient way to do the upgrade.

Yes, that would be what you need to do to change keyless entry systems, but never did that myself

What is the thick black wire that connected to the module. I definitely don't have a spot to plug that into.

That would most likely run to the antenna for the wireless radio frequency part

Ford often puts the antenna in the door pillar, like this: https://www.picclickimg.com/00/s/MTE...19D596A-_1.jpg

#3 is the antenna, just a black box
