Since 97 my 97 ranger does not have passenger side airbag...
Why couldn't I use the cavity behind the cover for "stuff"? The regular cab is EXTREMELY short on stuff space, and having that big ole hole sittin' there empty drives me insane. There is some kind of resistor/switch/something on the back side of the panel cover, but after unplugging whatever it is, the truck still started, which leads me to believe it ain't that important. However if that gizmo is what tells the drivers side airbag when to blow, then I probably should do something other than toss the gizmo in a drawer somewhere and shove the wires in back. I have no desire to be blasted by a 20 couple year old airbag 'cause I hit a pothole and the gizmo was disconnected. I reckon my long winded question is, what is the gizmo and can I leave it out, or hooked up but stuffed somewhere else. Thanks...Pat Copper....Well, the gizmo most certainly has something to do w/the airbag system, as when the truck is on/driving the airbag light is yellow...which means something...I'll look in the manual shortly...
