Slow Starter?

My "new to me" 2008 Ranger sometimes takes a few extra seconds to kick over when I turn the key. This is my first 4 cyl manual I've had in a while and I was wondering if that inital kick once you turn the ignition being a tad slow is normal. Thanx.

are you able to take video? Is it making weird scratching noises before? Or jus like rolling over slowly a few times and then suddenly firing to life?

start with checking your battery then your connections. if your still having the same problem do a current draw test on the starter and see what kind of amps its trying to pull. that will tell you if there is a restriction in the starter or wires
