Speedometer

91 ranger 4.0 5spd. My speedometer went haywire, it started this morning, it now gets buried, reads 80-90 mph at 50, it is a cable drive, there is a sensor on the trans end of the cable, I think its for the cruise control, usually when the cable goes the speedo stops, I can see itself trying to correct itself but it still reads fast. speedo went bad? Also it might sound silly but the ranger cluster looks like an F150 cluster, as far as the gauges go.

there are a few posts like this on RPS. i think the conclusion is the speedo in the cluster. needs replaced. if you venture that way, look at dj224ranger's posts. think he figured it out.

Thanks, I kinda figured that, I have been looking on ebay and craigs list for one. I will also check the post. Out of the many ford trucks I owned I never had a speedo problem.

My battery was going bad, now using the battery from my F150, the speedo now reads about 5 mph slow at 30, and 10 at 60, it used to be only 5mph throughput the range. All I need to figure is 25 and 30.
