Yes, burnt exhaust valve lowers compression, so cylinder will misfire, if it gets low enough cylinder will be dead, no fire anytime.

163k miles is nothing for the bottom end, at 400k I might consider swapping whole engine, might is the key word, would depend on the rest of the vehicles shape.

Just do the heads, not too expensive, check prices on reman vs local machine shop
Valve got burnt for a reason so I would put in rebuilt or new fuel injectors


And $5,100 seems a little over the top for 3.0l Vulcan engine swap out
Remanufactured long block should run about $2,400, on sale $1,800
Even at $100/hour can't see labor hitting $1,500, engine swap is 10hours max, and thats with 3 coffee breaks, lol
Even adding 5 hours to swap over oil pan, intakes and front of engine, it just doesn't add up to $5,000

found shop has experience with swapping out heads. Seen alot of the valve seats burnt out.

any recommondatins on a brand of heads to get?
