Tranny problem

04 ranger 4litre. Had to remove intake to replace thermostat housing. Back together, leak stopped but tranny slams into gear( auto) What did I get wrong? Engine lite also on, are these problems related? Thanks.

I'm thinking your Mass Air Flow sensor is not plugged in or the plug itself is bad. Does it shift differently through the gears? The engine light would come on for this problem.

It is between the rubber tube part of the intake and the filter box, mounted on a metal piece.

Make sure you also plugged in the temp sensor on the backside of the rubber intake tube.

I had to push my upper rad hose back on, and forgot to plug the MAF in. It was shifting a bit harder than normal and no CEL. Only had one drive cycle on it though.

Thanks everyone for trying to help. The mas detector made sense to me too but as it turned out Discount hooked up their code reader and it was the Throttle position Sensor. Thought you might want to know. Again thanks for your help.
