I just had almost the same problem with my 2007 Ford Ranger FXT 4X4 4.0 liter engine. My ABS'brake light, warning lights came on and my turn signals would not work although the emergency flashers worked just fine! Coldn't figure out what one had to do with the other. Replaced the signal flasher relay inside dash and still nothing. I did a fuse check and actually found that 10 amp fuse number 20 in fuse box under dash on passenger side was blown. I replaced it and everything was fine for about an hour then warning lights came on again and directional lights not working again. I looked at the book again and noticed that the fuse also was for the overdrive cancel switch as well as the turn/hazard flasher!! I remembered that the shift **** at the end of the shift lever had pulled off while shifting a few weeks earlier and I just pushed it back on. Well imagine my surprise when I pulled it off again and found that one of the wires had a small nick in it. It appears as though the wire was grounding out intermittently and blowing the 10 amp fuse. pulled the switch off and taped wires and now appears to be working again. Just ordered the entire shift lever for $50 because it appears you can't just by the wires and switch. Hope this helps someone else before they start tearing their hair out over this weird problem.
