I don't have a relay mounted to the right of the radio on my 2002. Up in the dash - roughly above the gas pedal is a plastic box with five relays in it. I removed the plastic cover and the mounting screws and dropped the unit down some. It is still up in the dash. The #26 fuse causes the two side by side relays to actuate when I plug it in.

LOVELY!! I have the same issue(s) with my '01 Ranger 4.0 Automatic Trans.

I have a few problems with mine and more... I have the 250mA drain, the cruise light flashes when the button is pushed but won't engage, my 4x4 won't engage, and my Airbag light flashes.

Anyhow, It's nice to have some ideas as to where to start the investigation this weekend!

I will post my findings.

Cheers!
John

I found out if I let the vehicle sit for about 30 minutes after the battery saver relay has been actuated then it times out and quits drawing current. The battery current draw drops to about 0.071 milliamps. DO NOT disconnect the battery during this test or the 'battery saver' relay will re-actuvate and you'll have to wait another 30 minutes. 0.071 milliamps is higher than I like but I'll live with it.

Also, does anyone know what would be under the passenger seat that would cause the Airbag light to flash? I was talking to a tech from the stealer and he said to look under there. A wire or connector may have been damaged.

Thanks in advance!

There is a two wire plug for the pre-tensioner under the seat. It is a crappy connector that will lose its connection when the seat is moved. It doesn't have to be damaged for it to not work.
