Wipers and Washer doesn't work. Have some codes.

Hi All,

I've got a problem - My wipers don't work and the windshield washer squirters don't work.

Previously my wipers would only work on high, and intermittently would work on a lower setting. When the wipers would only work on high the wipers would not park correctly.

Now all of the sudden the wipers don't work at all and my washers don't work either. I connected an obdii reader(forscan lite) and got these codes:
B1840 WIPER FRONT POWER CIRCUIT FAILURE
B1352 IGNITION KEY IN CIRCUIT FAULT
B1458 WIPER WASHER PUMP MOTOR RELAY COIL CIRCUIT FAILURE
B1434 WIPER SPEED RELAY COIL CIRCUIT FAILURE

Do any of these sound familiar? Has anybody successfully dealt with this problem?

I found the problem. Fuse 12 in the dash fuse box was blown. The dumbest things. I don't have a fuse diagram and it's hard to find online.

Good work in finding the problem.

But not sure a fuse would explain the "only high" working issue.

Go here to get owners manual: https://www.ranger-forums.com/genera...1-models-3747/

B "codes" are Body issues
P "codes" are PCM(engine codes)

B codes would be a problem with the BCM(body control module) in 1998 that was the GEM(generic electronic module) in Rangers

It runs the cab and body electrics, lights, windows, wipers, speedo and 4WD if you have it.

So you may have a problem in that module, just a heads up
Also in the engine fuse box you may have Wiper Relays, Hi/Lo relay, Park relay, Washer Pump Relay

It is strange. Thanks for the links and helpful clarification re: the codes.

The fuse that was in there was a 15 amp fuse but the fuse should've been a 30 amp fuse(I'm not the original owner of this Ranger). So if I were to give a guess as to what happened I'd say that likely the fuse was sort of blown, but maybe sort of partially attached.

I only really tested it a little but, but as soon as I changed the fuse the park worked immediately and the wipers returned to their home base(once I put the key in and all that jazz).
